Retirement and the impending lack of Social Security have forced us all to take a serious look at other options to Plan for our future. Options such as regular Savings, IRA's and 401k Plans are available. Most larger Companies offer a 401K Plan as parts of their Benefits Package. According to PCSA over 1.5 Trillion Dollars have been invested by Americans in 401K Plans. So what makes the 401K planning so attractive? Without any question having your Employer give anywhere from adding 50% of the amount you save to in same cases match your 401K investment is more then tempting. Being able to have it taken directly out of your Paycheck makes it easier to plan and to save. The Employee has the choice how much and often they wish to add funds to their 401K. 401K Plans are tax-deferred. This makes it possible for you to gain interest with much more money as your baseline investment.

Can anyone enjoy 401K Plans? There are very few requirements, to the 401K. You must be employed by a Company that offers the 401K Plan. You must be wait the imposed time frame (never longer then 1 year) before your can begin activity in your 401K. Lastly you must be over 21 Years of age before you can invest in a 401K Plan. Those are the main Rules, for any further Rules imposed by your Employer, request a SPD (Summary Plan Description) from you Administrator.

So what happens when you switch jobs? You can take your 401K with you. As long as you get employed by another Company that offers a 401K plan, you have the option to roll over your already existing 401K Plan.
